Research Profile
Jennifer M. Steers, PhD, recently graduated from a CAMPEP-accredited therapeutic medical physics residency program where she gained experience in all aspects of the clinic including special procedures, treatment planning, and brachytherapy. During her residency she had the opportunity to train and teach junior physics residents, as well as medical residents and therapists which ignited her passion for teaching residents in a supportive environment. Her teaching interests mirror areas in which she is most clinically active and in which she is currently conducting research. Dr. Steers main areas of research include clinical implementation of 3D printing for various radiotherapy applications. Currently, she has helped lead the efforts in commissioning, QA, and implementation of 3D printed molds for brachytherapy skin patients which not only improves treatment plan quality for patients, but also improves patient comfort. She is also currently investigating novel ways to utilize 3D printing in external beam applications. Additionally, as a continuation of her doctoral studies, Dr. Steers is active in safety and quality research with a focus on improving error sensitivity and transitioning to more clinically meaningful comparison methods in the clinic for patient-specific quality assurance.
