Research Profile
The research laboratory of Margareta D. Pisarska, MD, investigates the role of differences in the genetics and epigenetics of pregnancies conceived from couples with infertility, including those conceived through in vitro fertilization. The Pisarska lab also investigates the role of alterations in implantation and their role on adverse pregnancy outcomes. Lab members look at how transcriptional regulation is affected by genetics and epigenetics during early implantation in ongoing pregnancies in order to better understand how these changes lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes. Another area of investigation in the laboratory involves transcriptional regulation in the ovary. The lab is looking at how certain transcription factors regulate follicle/egg development and premature loss leading to subsequent infertility. Specifically, the Pisarska lab is investigating the role of FOXL2, a transcription factor associated with premature ovarian failure.
