Zakir Khan, PhD, is a faculty in the Departments of Biomedical Sciences, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the role of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in myeloid cell immune functions, particularly the immune response of neutrophils and macrophages to infections and tumor challenge. The overall goal of this study is to better understand and manipulate ACE-mediated mechanism(s) for boosting myeloid cell immunity against these diseases. Dr. Khan also studies the molecular mechanisms of tumor resistance, with major interest being in identifying novel miRNAs and onco-apoptotic pathways that are associated with aggressive metastatic and recurrent squamous cell carcinoma.

Many of the physicians who have medical staff privileges to practice medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center are independent physicians, and not employees or agents of the hospital. These independent physicians bill separately for their services. You should contact your physician to determine their status and billing practices.
